Are we happier than our forefathers?

Let us first divide time into – Old days, Now & Later on.
Each of us hears the saying lot from advanced age persons – Old is/was Gold. Rationally thinking, Gold is only, Gold. And Old is Old, only Old…(laugh)…Now, on a serious note…
What was good, rather better that we lack nowadays. First thing is - there was plenty of time for a common individual to relax. Therefore, a common man could think / work on area of passion/interest other than the area of work. Like, a man could spend time in reading / writing poems/novels or go to play ground to hit a shuttle cork with badminton racket, or play football for his own happiness. We have less time for playground. This certainly we lack in now, which makes a person happy in life definitely.

The other thing, one could find is – Integrity that means the inherent values for honesty to oneself and loyalty to society. A common man in power in his own capacity used to be happier being a clean & firm in character; liked to go by her heart, not by brain mostly. Therefore, practice of bribing was less in places, most doctors with least instrument/medical test used to dedicate life for mass, artists used to perform to entertain followers more than self, public administration (in government) office used to be more dedicated to work for public, even priest used to look closer to God. All these are quite normal those days. And people used to get happy that way.

Now, are we not happy?
We are certainly (laugh), but the form factors of keeping us happy have changed, like the new era. We are now freer to say NO; like if we feel something is not right, we say no to that at ease. Saying No is not NO-NO anymore if there is reason. We can easily tell friends – I will not go to play because, I have home work pending; our parents can easily say no to office bosses, if requested to come on week-ends. This is due to the liberty we get when we grow up. We are more passionate to do more in life, not bound to small targets. That makes us happy now.

Don’t forget the plenty of video games also keep us happy. Right? (laugh)

We get more options everywhere and we pick the one we like most. We get options to read several kinds of literature, several kinds of chocolates to swallow, several kinds of biscuits, ice creams (laugh) that make us happy.

We are freer society now. Our Media, news channels, newspapers can raise voice of us whenever we individually fail to talk loud against wrong doings. This must make us happy, and we are happy; no doubt in it.

Coming to later days – I do not know how people would remain happy; but I imagine mankind would find ways for cleaner, greener earth. I am sure human, the finest creation of the God would device methods/practices to control Global Warming…And I imagine they would too remain happy like we are now, like our forefathers were at their times.

Fact is – Time rushes forward, and things change…let us accept it and enjoy at our times…Lots at our time are nice that keep us happy…I would say – Life is a long journey with some pain, and lots of HAPPY MOMENTS. And People are happy at their times.
